TAS5717/TAS5719 Short Circuit Protection

Hi,

Could you please tell us the transition time for the output FETs if a short circuit on the output is shorted to GND and is removed as below ?

Q1. the transition time from the normal mode to Hi-Z for the output FETs when the output is shorted to GND
Q2. the transition time from Hi-Z to the normal mode for the outout FETs when the output returns from a short state

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato-san,

Short Circuit protection is the same as Over-current protection. The only parameter we specify for this is the Over-current response time, 150ns. This is the time that takes the amplifier to put the outputs in Hi-Z after an overcurrent event.

When the amplifier detects a high current demand, it triggers the overcurrent protection, if this condition persists (i.e., a short circuit), the amplifier places the outputs in Hi-Z while the fault condition persists.

  • Hi Diego-san,

Thank you for your quick response.
    I understood.
