Ternary mode in TAS5717.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5717, TAS5717EVM

Hi,

We are using TAS5717 in our board.Which PWM mode we have to set for proper working?.Initially we tried with AD mode.We were facing a noise as well inductor heating issues. Then we changed the PWM mode to BD in GUI.Still we are facing some issue. Then again changed to Ternary mode.In GUI we have an option for selecting it in PWM mode drop down. But there is not explanation in datasheet about it.There is no data about ICD settings for Ternary mode in Datasheet. Please help me on this.

Thanks in advance,

Safeer.

  • Hi Safeer

We are going to check this issue and we'll come back to you as soon as possible with more information.

  • Hi, Safeer,

Ternary mode uses the same same ICD settings as BD modulation. The amplifier should not have issues when using it in BD or AD modes, the noise you heard and the inductor heating is an abnormal behavior. Do you have a output capture, as well as a schematic of your board you can share so we can take a look and find the possible root cause?. Did you followed our TAS5717EVM Layout as reference for your design?
