Since this amplifier does not have a PBTL mode, it is up to the user to configure the PWM inputs and output for PBTL. The only condition is that the TAS5601 is configured is stereo BTL mode by connecting pin 20 “SE/BTL” to GND.

Input and output pairing should follow A-C and B-D.

Inputs: PWM_AP can be connected to PWM_CP likewise, PWM_AN connected to PWM_CN. The same would follow for inputs B and D.

The other option is to configure the PWM modulator, if possible, to duplicate the PWM signal between A and C inputs as well as B and D inputs. Therefore all inputs on the TAS5601 can be driven directly form the modulator rather than connecting inputs together.

Outputs: Each half bridge must have its own inductor before being paralleled.  Therefore A and C outputs should only connect after the inductor. Same for B and D.

The figure below shows connecting the inputs with jumpers:

May I ask you following questions ?

1. Please advise us recommended LC filter value in PBTL configuration. Our customer use 4 ohm speaker. Are they same as BTL filter value, 4 ohm/10uH/1500nF described in the TAS5601 datasheet P14?

2. Are there any end customer's products using TAS5601 in PBTL configuration?

1. Yes you can use the same filter values as in the datasheet. The only difference is the bridging of channels. Here you would simply use 2x 10uH inductors on each side of the load rather than one. The cutoff frequency is unchanged.

2.. The TAS5601 is an old device so I do not have good idea on which applications customers are using it for. Typically PBTL is used very high power low impedance loads. If there is a device that can meet their power spec in a BTL configuration, they would use that before using a more expensive PBTL configuration.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I would like to confirm about question 1. Do you mean that we should use 20uH (= 2 x 10uH) inductors or 2pcs of 10uH inductors for each 4 channels? Please advise.
