Hi

We want to make sure the effect of "Click-and-Pop-Free" at startup with TAS5612LA and to compare with TAS5342LA which has no Pop free feature.

Is there TAS5612LAEVM?

Or do you have information about how better TAS5612LA is than TAS5342LA, at the click and pop noise?

BestRegards

  • Hello,
The TAS5342LA is an older device so we no longer have EVMs.

The TAS5612LA offers a Cstart pin (Pin 7) where a capacitor is added. The RC time constant caused by adding this capacitor offers a ramped startup. Proper value of this capacitor can help improve pop and clip. You can try experimenting with different value capacitors to see if the pop and clip performance improves.

    Best Regards,
    Matt
  • Hi Matthew

    Thank you for your reply.

Our customer is about to use TAS5342LA but we want to recommend TAS5612LA to a customer.

    We have following concern.

    1.
There is no EVM for TAS5612LA, right?
How to evaluate this device? Do you have other EVM whose IC is compatible to TAS5612LA?

    2.
Can you have a recommended D amp which has PWM input and can prevent pop noise?

    BestRegards
  • 1. Unfortunately the EVM was discontinued for these devices since they have been available for some time.

    2. The TAS5612LA and TAS5614LA is our latest generation PWM input Class-D amplifiers. It should have the best pop performance compared to previous generation devices like the TAS5342LA.

As mentioned the TAS5612LA has its own startup control using the C-start pin. This capacitor tunes the startup speed of the Class-D stage for minimum pop. This is a significant improvement over the TAS5342LA device which relies on slow startup from the PWM modulator. Therefore, the TAS5612LA relaxes the requirements on the modulator for quiet startup since it has its own startup control.

    Best Regards,
