Hi

We have question about the overcurrent limit protection of TAS5342LA.

We can refer the following description on the datasheet.

IOC=8.4A(typ)
Resistor-programmable, high-end, ROC=22Kohm with 1ms pulse, Tc=75C

Questions.

1. How to consider IOC limit?

For example,
Speaker load=4ohm, PVDD=32V, BTL:

How to obtain the current that should be limited?
And what Roc value is a reasonable?
Could you please show me an example?

2. What is the meaning of "with 1ms pulse"?

    Sorry for the delay as I was out of the office.

    Unfortunately we do not have any more information on the OC adjust resistor so some experimentation may be required.

    1. IOC limit is typically set so that that the amplifier can deliver more current than required to hit the target output power specification. However, for sensitive speakers the OC limit can be reduced such that the maximum current is limited and does not to damage the speaker.

    2. The pulse specification is how the OC limit is tested. Typically a burst sine wave is used with a low Z load (2ohm or 1ohm) as to not heat the device. Continuous input to hit the OC level will require extremely high power and will overheat the device.

    With this method of using bursts, the OC level can be accurately measured .
