TAS5707

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5707

Hi,

I refer to TAS5707 EVM.

1). May I know what is the function of R9 resistor 22.1kohm (P22.1KHCT) which is connected to pin 7 (OC_ADJ- analog overcurrent protection line) of TAS5707?

2). How does this pin work?

3). And can we change this resistor value to other more common value? If yes, what is the recommended range of resistor values?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Phil

  • Hi Phil:

    1.  OC_ADJ sets trip threshold for the current drawn at the power stage output.

    2.  22.1k has a trip level of ~4.5A.  When current is higher than 4.5A, the device goes in to over current protection mode.

    3.  You can change the resistor value.  Increase in resistor value will decrease in threshold level.  22.1k is the smallest value or highest threshold current (4.5A).

    Best regards,

    Tuan

  • Hi Tuan,

Currently the supply is from AC Adaptor with max supply current of 2.7A.

Can I check with you do you have any formula to calculate the value of this resistance in relationship to the current threshold?

Can you kindly provide me some documentation information on this equation?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Phil

  • Hello Phil:

Since the board layout, filter, ect. affect the current, the resistor values need to be checked on the PCB.  The following is just for guideline.  22k gives the maximum current (4.5A) before over-current protection (OCP) and 69k gives ~1/2 of the maximum current (2.2A).  47k ~2.8A; 39k ~3A; 27k ~4A.  Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Tuan
