TAS5717: Why is MCLK Required

I2S typically only requires 3 signals.... SCK, SD and WS.

How do I configure the TAS5717 to function with nothing attached to the MCLK pin? What are the limitations in this mode?

Hi John,

Please refer to this e2e question, it is for the TAS5727 but applies to the TAS5717. e2e.ti.com/.../253844

To summarize, you must provide an MCLK for the device to function. However, if you choose a 44.1K/48K Fs rate, a 64*Fs clock can be used on both SCLK and MCLK pins allowing you to provide a single clock to both pins.
