PUREPATHCONSOLE: Purepath Console Hardware Check failure: Download Unsuccessful and Hardware ID Incorrect

Part Number: PUREPATHCONSOLE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5780M, TAS5780MEVM, TAS5782MEVM, TAS5760XXEVM

Hi,

Following instructions for the Purepath Console prior to any system calibration I ran the Hardware Check. It fails on both the download with the message "Download unsuccessful" and it states that the hardware ID is incorrect.

The remaining steps:

"Audio sound card detected and unambiguous"

"Audio sound card sampling frequency is good"

"Audio record is successful"

"Audio playback is successful"

All seem to succeed. I have restarted my computer as recommended in the User's Guide in case of a failure in one of the checks. I am able to connect to the TAS5780M in the bottom left interface. Attempting to tune or play anything through the amplifier does not work. What steps can I take to fix this?

  • Could you show me a screenshot of PPC3 GUI which has the error messages you mentioned?

    Andy

  • Sure, I've uploaded the image.

I am running this on Windows 10. As W10 is not explicitly mentioned as supported I'll try using W7 in a virtual machine.

Edit: Runing PPC3 in a Win7 VM yielded the same exact result as above.

  • Andy,

Have you had a chance to see the screenshot? Do you have any recommendations to solving this issue?
  • I missed the built in forum formatting, I have fixed the link so it should display as appropriate.
  • In the e2e thread, the customer showed one error message and one warning.  The warning can be ignored and the error message usually shows when PurePath Console Mother Board is not able to communicate with TAS5780M devices via i2c.

    Here are my suggestions.

    a) Try a real Win 7 PC. I see they used a virtual machine instead.

    b) Make  sure the jumpers for J2 and J5 are both installed.

    c) Make sure TAS5780MEVM is powered through the two banana connectors.

    d) Mae sure the 3.3V led (D1) is on when TAS5780MEVM is powered.

  • Jeff,

Here is a photo of the set up. As you can see the appropriate jumpers, banana connectors, and LED's are on and powered. Furthermore the power supply shows a 3W draw. Please advise.

  • Hello Roy! Can you please look into Krzysztof's question. Thanks, Jeff
  • Hi Krzysztof,

Could you please hover your mouse on the "Download unsuccessful" bullet and tell us what does the diagnosis say? ( see example below)

Also, please try with a real Windows 7 computer if possible.

    Thank you!

  • The only thing that comes up is "Check whether the EVM is connected properly and re-run".

Furthermore if I place my mouse over the second bullet point I get:

  • Hi Krzysztof,

"Hardware ID is incorrect" is not big deal and you can always manually connect to the device by hitting the "Connect" button.

However, it seems that your PC still couldn't recognize the device. In that case, we'd suggest that you not use the virtual machine.

Instead, please try with a Windows 7/8/8.1 PC and see if the error still exists.

    Thank you!

  • I do not readily have access to a machine with Win7. I tried installing PP3 on my mac however I found that for whatever reason no EVM apps show up when I am logged in.

  • I have tried a Win 7 machine and the error persists in the same exact manner as before.
  • Hi Krzysztof,

I happened to have the same problem today with TAS5782MEVM.

What I did was changing a PPCMB and then PPC3 was able to recognize the device.

That said, you'd probably want to try with another PPCMB. If you don't have one, please contact local sales people for one.

    Thank you!

  • Roy,

I do not have another PPCMB. I ordered another amp that I was interested in try (TAS5760XXEVM) with hopes of checking if it were amplifier specific. Could you point please direct me to the appropriate local sales people for the Maryland area for this? Also if you could assist in getting access to the PPC3 software for the TAS5760XXEVM, I would greatly appreciate that.

  • Hi Krzysztof,

I have forwarded this message to my colleague and will get back to you when I hear from them.

Besides, the GUI for TAS5760XXEVM comes with PPC1. Since you already have access to PPC3, you should be able to access PPC1 in My Secure Software on ti.com.

    Thank you!
