TAS5630B: MUTING TAS5630 audio using RESET PIN

Dear Sir/Madam

I am using TAS5630B for my Product and I wish to mute the output is it advisable to mute and unmute the output audio using the RESET pin?

Note I am using an MCU to do the control/ monitoring of this chip. I am thinking to Mute in when user selection the volume at 0 and unmute when it is at volume 1.

Willson,

Yes that is fine to use the RESET for this. I would ensure that you are monitoring the READY pin when you do this and make sure that you are not playing audio when you come out of RESET. The datasheet explains the READY pin and how it should be monitored.

Dear Adam

In other words, I am required to disable user input audio source either by open or shorting then turn off the reset pin and ensure the ready pin is ready then enable back the user input audio

am I correct?

Yes, this should ensure that you have a click and pop free startup and shut down.
