TLV320AIC3263 : Bypass the built in Class D Speaker Driver of TLV320AIC3263 and use TPA3144D2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3263, TPA3144D2

Dear All,

I am building a voice system with 4 Digital Mics and I have chosen the TLV320AIC3263 Codec to interface with my Sitara Processor

Now for the Stereo Speaker which we wish to connect we want more than 5w power output per channel on the speakers

Hence we choose the TPA3144D2 ...

Now I want the speaker to work like this
1. Sitara Gives I2S Speaker data to codec
2. Codec just converts from Digital to Analog without Amplification (Built in Speaker Amp should be avoided )
3. TPA3144D2 takes the Analog Data and amplifies

Let me know if this can be achieved

Regards

Shashank

  • Hi, Shashank,

    Yes, this configuration is possible.

I only recommend to connect the TPA3144D2 to the TLV320AIC3263 line outputs. These line outputs must have an RC low-pass filter to eliminate the out-of-band noise. Otherwise, the out-of-band noise could be amplified by the TPA3144D2. You may use the following document as a guide to select the RC filter:
