PCM5242RHBEVM: Starting with PCM5242RHBEVM

Part Number: PCM5242RHBEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5242

Hello,

received today the PCM5242RHBEVM and immediately some questions:
What is the difference between Purepath Studio and Purepath Console and what do I need for Windows and the board?
Then I connected the board to a Win10 Comuter via USB. Seems to work, but initially only 16 bit / 48 kHz are possible. Is there a suitable driver for Highres Audio?

Thank you for your support!

  • Hi Hans-Juergen,

PurePath Console should be your primary control software for the EVM.  It allows you configure the inputs to the PCM5242 as well as select different HybridFlows to experiment.  The HybridFlows are predefined DSP programs for the PCM5242.  These have been created by  TI in an effort to leverage both the RAM and ROM functionality of the miniDSP in the PCM5242.

This document describes the hybrid flows.  If one of the hybrid flows does not satisfy your requirements, you can use PurePath Studio to develop an new flow.  PPS requires some expertise and knowledge of the miniDSP functionality as well.  The PPC software should allow you change the sample rates as well.

Please let me know if this answers your questions.

    Thanks!

    Paul

  • Dear Paul,

thank you for the quick and clarifying answer!

I have now ordered "PurePath Console Graphical Development Suite" and hope to have the right development environment.
