PCM5242RHBEVM: When COAX is used with 44.1k, Sample rate became 176~192 and Hybrid Filter doesn't work.

Part Number: PCM5242RHBEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SRC4392, PCM5242

Hello,

When COAX is used with 44.1k in EVM, Sample rate in status window became 176~192k and Hybrid Filter doesn't work even though it seems. But as I checked the output frequency response, it seems that it just outputs direclty.

So how can I use COAX or Optical input to check? Should I control SRC4392 direclty thru I2C bus?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Roy,

The SRC4392 automatically upsamples the COAX input. I would recommend that you use the USB source for 44.1kHz or control the SRC dirctly with the 'Direct I2C Read/Write' tab of the PCM5242 EVM GUI.

    Thanks!

  • Hi, Paul,

I didn't know that I can control SRC4392 thru that GUI menu before. Is there any docutment or guide how to do that in that menu by the way?

    Thanks,

    Roy

  • Hi Roy,

Unfortunately there is not document specifically about the controlling the SRC4392 directly with the PPC2 GUI. The I2C page can communicate with the device, but you will need to review the SRC4392 datasheet for the exact commands you need. I personally would use the USB interface or the I2S header directly if you are trying to do some specific testing.

    Thanks!
