Hi,

I would like to evaluate a custom designed amplifier product with TAS5558 and use Purepath studio to modify DSP settings. Can I2C on connector J3 on Purepath Console Motherboard be used to control TAS5558 on external boards?

Michael,

In theory yes, this J3 connector is in parallel with the rest of the I2C bus. Unfortunately the master/slave relationship for all the devices on the board is dynamic and it's hard to say whether or not this scheme will work. It's easy enough to try though.

Thanks Adam,

So J3 is not the solution. How do you recommend I connect to and adjust settings on our target board with TAS5558? - Could I use the PPC Motherboard I already have and instead of J3 route the I2C connections from the on-board TAS55xx chip to our target? Do I have to request special PC software for the TAS5558 and what is the part# for this?

Michael,

I would try J3 first. Since you may have two TAS55x8 devices on the same bus you may have to remove U6 (the onboard TAS55x8) or at least shut it down by removing R404 (the AVDD 0ohm jumper).

Do you have access to the PUREPATHCONSOLE directory on MySecureSoftware?

Yes, I have access. I see that PPC 1 support TAS5558.
