PCM1861EVM: PCM1861EVM: Digital audio appears to be truncated to 16 bits (cont'd)

Part Number: PCM1861EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1861,

While awaiting the promised additional info from Mr. Ravi Patil, I was asked by the system if the problem was solved. Unfortunately the "This did NOT resolve my issue" button did not work, so the case was closed.

Actually I still hope for further details from Mr. Ravi Patil. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi JH,

Based on your previous comments, you are able to see 24-bit I2S stream from the device when you analyze the output of PCM1861. However when you have TAS1020 as master and PCM1861 as slave, you are only seeing 16-bit. Is this the correct understanding of the issue?

It's highly unlikely that the USB-to-I2x interface is causing any issues here as we have not seen the same issue here or have heard it from other customers either. The likely issue could be w format selection for the windows driver. Please check the same and you should be able to see the 24bit data.

Hope this resolves the issue. If not, please let me know. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ravi

  • Hi Ravi,

Your description of our issue is correct. The problem from our point of view is that unlike the PCM1861EVM+USBtoI2x, other sound devices do show 24 bits using the same software and PC. Nevertheless, given your findings we will now dig further into the driver and post any result.

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    Jan Hak
