TAS5729MD: TAS5729 no sound issue in 0 degree C chamber.

Part Number: TAS5729MD

Sir,

My customers using TAS5729 in TV application, they ODM for S-customer using TAS5729 around 3 years but found no sound issue now.

Here are customer test step and what I check as below,

  1. TV turn off, then put TV system in 0 degree C chamber 30 mins.; re-turn-on TV,  TAS5729 has no sound.
  2. The same condition as above, I using EVM I2C control customer's PCB TAS5729 and "CONNECT" by GUI,  it still no sound. (read back 0x05 is 00, 0x07 is 01-10, everything looks fine)
  3. Read 0x02(Fault), no error(0x00).
  4. I checked o/p DC level is correct.
  5. It will have sound after 2~3 mins. (still in 0 degree C chamber)
  6. I believe TAS5729 always survey, no die, no protection; that’s why it will recovery after 2~3 mins.
  7. SWAP AB chips/PCB, the issue follow chips.

Do you have experience or idea what happen?

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

First of all, the datasheet recommended operating temperature is from 0C to 85C. So the 0C is the boundary value.

What's more, could you help to clarify some questions?

    1. Regarding the 2nd step. Did you mean all registers value are the same as normal temperature? Except 0x07 sometime 01, sometimes 10?
    2. For 4th step. o/p DC level is correct. It says that there is PWM switching from the beginning after turn on TV. If so, does the duty cycle is correct?
    3. At 5th step, the sound will come out after 2~3 mins without any modification. If the PWM switching is correct, maybe we need to check the SDIN status, and also check the BST cap voltage?
    4. How about 10C status? Did we also check our EVM board with 0C condition?

    Rdgs,

    Matthew
