Hi, I'm a designer who works at Leonardo S.p.a.
We are using in our product, your component, the Codec PN: PCM2912 with the USB port not direcly connected to the USB port of PC (OS: Windows 7 professional) but using USB / LAN Extenders by Lindy PN: 42700.
By sending a PCM signal coming from the USB codec, in reception (on PC using Audacity as Audio application) we detect a signal distortion (apparently random) which seems to be linked to sampling errors.
Connecting direclty a Codec output to the PC non problems result.
I ask you if you can understand the problem that we noticed.
Moreover, do exist un updated driver for Windows 7 wich cam managed the codec parameters such as sampling frequency or word size (16 / 32bit)?
Waiting for your kind reply,
Many thanks
Hello Bruno,
First, we have not heard of similar behaviors while using our devices while directly connected to a PC. Our best guess is that the USB signal is getting distorted/rounded out by the extender and the device is unable to lock to the signal and generate the internal clocks.
There PCM2912A is hard programmed in our factory for the original settings when it was released. Please note that we have not experienced odd behaviors and we regularly use the device with our Windows 7/10 machines.
Dear Collin,
first of all many thanks for your quick answer.
I would like to know if you can indicate an driver for Windows 7 with which it is possible to manage the codec parameters such as sampling frequency, or if the common audio interface of the OS is suitable for this issue.
Regards
Bruno
This should be possible with the default OS drivers and configuration capabilities.
