TAS5751M: What happen between UVP and minimum recommended PVdd?

Hello,

Our customer try to utilize TAS5751M with x6 AAA battery. PVdd range would be 9.0V to 5.4V.

When look at the data sheet recommended operation condition PVdd mini is 8.0V. And UVP(falling) is 5.4V, UVP(rising) is 5.8V.

Can we expect that between PVdd 8V to 5.4V area, TAS5751M D-amp is still function-able and reliable but it is not guarantied Audio performance?

Is that correct understanding?

For example, the their TAS57xx family D-amp specified that Vdd mini is 4.5V and UVP(raising) also 4.5V as TAS5719 datasheet.

This specification is simple and easy to expect function.

Hi Mochi,

I don't see a clear indication of TAS5751M's behavior when its PVDD is between 8V and 5.4V in our datasheet. Let me do some quick testing to double-check and then get back to you.

hello Mochi,

I would propose you can select one TI-Class-D amp which min PVDD support till 4.5V. we have new device TAS5805/TAS5806/TAS5825 could meet your requirements as well.

Hello,

In this EE, our customer wants to get PVdd dependent output power.

Closed loop device is not candidate, we need open loop D-amp.

So, if TAS5751M can not work till UVP threshold, TAS5719 family would be candidate.

Hi Mochi,

I have done some quick testing.

Basically, we CANNOT guarantee that TAS5751M still functions when its PVDD is between 5.4V and 8V.

If you need an amplifier that works with 4.5V PVDD, I would suggest you choose other devices, like TAS5719 as you mentioned.

Thank you for your evaluation.

Our customer also confirmed TAS5751M created noise output below 8V PVdd supply.

That is meaning before UVP activation noise output will be occurred.

We will suggest to use TAS5719 family this time.
