Hi team,

We have made a board with B version DKD package in the past.

This time I will try to make a board again using TAS5414, but the C version has been released.

And C version doesn't have DKD package.

What is the difference between B and C?

Looking at the data sheets, there is no difference except that the ESD HBM is 2500V.

What is the reason why the DKD package disappeared?

Yoshida-san,

We have added some additional register settings for PBTL in the "C" version. See registers Ox0C and 0x0D. There was a business decision to only make the PHD version for the TAS5414C-Q1.

I understand that there are three differences between B version and C version:

1. HBM ability of ESD

2. Package option (Delete DKD package)

3. registers Ox0C and 0x0D (adding register settings)

If we don't need the additional register settings and HBM meets specifications, we can continue to use products and circuits from the B version DKD package.

Is it correct?

We intend to divert assets we have designed in the past.

Why did HBM go down from 3000V to 2500V with Cver?

Has there been a change in the ESD protection circuit?

Register settings have been added in the C version, but I think that the function is also described in the B version data sheet.

The following is an explanation of the B version of DC detection.

Does it mean that the same register can be set in the B version?

Yoshida-san,

The HBM tested lower, therefore, it is reflected in the datasheet. No change in the ESD circuitry.

The paragraph you show reflects Bit D4 in register 0x0B. Bit D5 in register 0x0C is new in the "C" version and is different from the paragraph you show. This new bit allows for the DC detect to report a fault to the fault pin and registers, but does not disable the afflicted channel.
