i require a high temperature class-d amplifier: Now the TPA3116D2-Q1 does state operation to 125'C, that is good.

My circuit needs to operate for 16 seconds at temperaures between 125-150'C. Is there any way to override the thermal shut-down of this part.

We need a maximum of 15Watts power, our load is a piezo device which repesents a large capacitance (20uF) not very nice.

Can you advise me what might i do, am i using the right part?

Hi Victor,

Can you give us more details on your requirements for example:

- PVDD voltage

- # of channels

- Do you need load diagnostics

- Assuming you need analog input to the device?

I have only one channel.

I have a voltage level of 12V DC to 24V DC selectable.

no diagnostics needed.

ideally digital or analogue input.

maximum operational time 16 seconds per month, time in operation 2 years.

Hi Victor,

At 125C most of our devices will have the overtemperature warning kick in.

That said have you taken a look at TAS6421-Q1? You're able to adjust the OTW warning on that device and the over temperature shutdown is typically at 160-175C.

We don't recommend operating at these high temperatures very long as they could shorten the life expectancy of our devices. And you might have issues trying to get higher power out of the devices.

Thank you for your help in resolving this issue. I have created another problem :

Mouser a T.I. Distributer do not stock/sell the TAS6421 part or eval board is this part currently supported, or is the part discontinued?

Is this available in Europe?

This is a very new part, only having recently been released. I'll have to check to see when they should be getting parts to the distributors.
