3-way audio splitter/mixer for voice transmission application

Hello team,

we are looking for a solution for splitting and mixing analog audio signals (voice transmission) for a configuration where 3 users can talk to each other.

  • Each of the users can call the master user, and master user can control whether the remaining user can also hear the conversation or not
  • Master user can communicate with each user individually or with both of them at the same time

What would be the simplest solution for such audio splitting/mixing? It doesn't need to be limited to audio amps (can use muxes, gpamps, etc.)

Thank you.

  • Hi Bart,

the simplest analog only way I could come up with is the following block diagram:

Essentially, the Master can switch on/off all communication channels and the Slaves can choose to whom they want to send the signal.

For the multiplexers I would recommend the TMUX1122 or TS5A23166. For the OR I'd recommend the SN74LVC2G32.

Dependent on the exact signal/application they might need to add a buffer for each line to prevent signal loss.

Do you have more details on the signal, distance between Slave/Master, etc.?

    Best regards,

    Ambroise

  • Hi Ambroise,

this should suffice for the start. Thanks a lot for your advice, very helpful!
