LM48410: Request reference design gerber, schematic and BOM

Hello,

Implementing the Cmedia HS-100B USB to audio chip to drive a headset w/ attached microphone, and the TI LM48410 to drive two 8-ohm 1W speakers.

1 - Is there a reference design available that implements the headset/microphone and two 8-ohm 1W speakers?

2 - If not, is there a LM48410 reference design gerber, schematic and BOM available? The data sheet shows a schematic, BOM and gerber, but I would like to see an actual gerber.

3 - When I do a search for LM48410 under the speaker amps link, http://www.ti.com/audio-ic/amplifiers/speaker-amplifiers/overview.html, it is not listed.

Is the LM48410 the latest part, or is there a newer equivalent available?

Hi Roland,

Perhaps you could consider TPA2012D2 to replace LM48410?
These devices are very similar, only difference is the output modulation and 3D feature. TPA2012D2 does not have spread spectrum modulation but it is still filter-free, and a small ferrite bead + capacitor filter at the output helps with EMI constraints.

Unfortunately some old legacy devices no longer have evaluation modules available, and design files of those boards are not available either.

Hello Ivan,

Thanks for the info.

For the LM48410, I am using the AGND reference from the HS-100B for the signals feeding the LM48410.

The LM48410 VDD has a separate GND reference from the PVDD (speaker power supply) GND reference.

I figure to tie the VDD and PVDD GND references together thru a ferrite bead at one location.

Does the AGND reference from the HS-100B correspond to the VDD or PVDD GND reference?

Then I assume that the other GND reference corresponds to the 5V VDD power input.

Can you recommend a replacement for LM48410 obsolete TDK ACM4532-801 CMCs T1 and T2 from pages 14 and 15 of data sheets?

Ivan,

Since I am using single-ended inputs, do the INR- and INL- inputs connect to GND or PGND through the 1uF series capacitors?

Hi Roland,

The thermal pad is connected to PGND, although both GND should be shorted together at least at one point on the PCB (0ohm short can be used for this).
The proposed choke replacement seems OK, although if you want to keep the same max current spec you can consider other options like 744235801.

You should AC ground unused input to GND.

Hello Ivan,

From today's comment, you said that GND and PGND should be shorted together at least at one point on the PCB (0ohm short can be used for this). Is it at 1 point or more than 1 point? Looks like data sheet Fig 27 shows the split plane GNDs connected at 1 point, at top of Fig 27 .

Also, from data sheet Fig 26 and 27, looks like thermal pad ground connected to pin 17 GND, not PGND. Or does it not matter?

Looks like the input side is GND, while the output side is PGND.

From comment on Dec 30, 2019 10:57 PM, does the AGND reference from the HS-100B correspond to the VDD GND reference (same as unused inputs AC ground to GND)?

Roland,

GND planes should connect at one point. diagrams from data sheet have best practices.
Pad connection to GND does not matter as long as they're both connected together. Use the plane with better heat dissipation characteristics.

Yes, it is the same GND.
