TAS5721: TAS5721 has no output on headphone

Hi Team,

I made my customized bourd with TAS5721, with I2S input, and drive a headphone and two speakers.

The I2C communication is good, and the board works perfectly with two 5W speakers, but has no output on headphone.

my registor setting as below:

X1B 00 ! Factory trim
X21 00 00 42 03 ! Set SubChannel Mixer to (L+R)/2
X05 84 !Exit Shutdown and configure the device in 2.1 Mode
X07 30 !Set MAster Volume to 0dB

Would you please advise how to switch the output to headphone? sorry I didn't find it on the datasheet.

Hi,

So you have only I2S input? The headphone amplifier is an independent signal path and it only supports analog inputs via DR_INx pins. You can refer to the block diagram for details.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my CoS only has I2S output, don't have analog output. Looks like that I need to add an DA converter.....

besides that, Is the volume on headphone programmable over I2C? It looks like that it's unprogramable on the block diagram.

Hi,

No, the volume of headphone amplifier is not programmable. It simply amplifies the power. You have to control the volume via DAC.
