TAS5414B-Q1: Adding offset voltage to outputs

Hi Team,

We have a customer inquiry regarding their application using TAS5414B-Q1.
They use this amplifier for shakers in the test systems. They customers ask about DC offset at the output for raising a bit the shaker part. They give sine wave to amplifier input. They are thinking about adding an adjustable DC level at the output. It can be between 0-5V, or 0-3.3V.

Is the application of the customer above possible?

Hi Jonathan,

This is an interesting concept. The TAS5414B-Q1 is a DC amplifier. If DC is injected into the inputs the output will have DC. The device has DC offset protection. It will trigger a fault when DC is detected on any channel for a second or longer. By default the protection is set to NOT shutdown the output stage, but will trigger the fault pin and set the register. DC amplification has not been validated on these devices, so the customer would need to test thoroughly.
