TAS2110: Quick SW Evaluation Help

Part Number: TAS2110

Hello team,

My customer would like to quickly evaluate TAS2110. First, my customer would like to simply and quickly check the "sound" first.

But since customer doesn't have much time to evaluate, my customer doesn't have EVM in their lab.

So,

#1. Could you please provide I2S sample data?

#2. Could you please provide sample register setting?

#3. Do you think it is possible to perform register setting with PPC3 but without EVM? (TAS2110 is already mounted on their prototype)

Regards,

Itoh

  • Hi, Itoh-san,

I have some questions regarding your three points above. Could you clarify them, please?

1.- The I2S sample data can be provided by an Audio Precision tool or even from our different EVMs than can convert USB stream into I2S format. A single audio file can be used for this purpose. What tool does the customer use for the I2S data generation?

2.- Yes, I can. Which features does the customer need? I can provide a single file with the configuration that he needs.

3.- PPC3 contains an option to create .bin and .cfg files. These files can be used to store all the registers information that you need to configure the TAS devices. Please take a look at this file for more information about it: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sboa239/sboa239.pdf

I encourage the customer to get the TAS2110EVM. This is the best way to get a development code and test all the device functions in a timely manner.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Hi Luis-san,

    1. My customer doesn't have fixed idea to generate I2S yet. What tool does TI recommend?

    2. They're going to use 8Ohms 0.3W speaker. What configuration does my customer need to specify here?

OK, I got my customer order the EVM.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Itoh

  • Hi, Itoh-san,

Please take a look at my answers below and let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

1.- The I2S generation can be achieved with any of our EVMs with integrated XMOS or TAS1020b. The TAS2110EVM already has onboard XMOS that can be used to convert USB stream into I2S signals. It can be useful for the customer to get I2S data.

2.- If the customer is planning to use 8ohms speaker, he can simply connect the load to the EVM and run PPC3. He can use the Device Control option to set the EVM. Once he gets the expected configuration, he can export the registers settings to a bin or config file.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
