TPA3112D1: Short Circuit Protection

Hi,

/FAULT pin is asserted to low if shorting the speaker terminal after LC filter to PVCC or GND, but /FAULT pin isn't asserted to low if shorting both speaker terminals when inputting 1kHz. So, the output current exceeds 9A.
Could you please tell me that reason why the fault cannot be detected?

Is the fault pin asserted if the speaker terminal is not outputting anything?

I will ask our customer to check whether /FAULT pin is asserted to low when there is no signal.

Hi Kato-san,

Yes, I have received the message.

Because the Fault pin is connected to SD pin, so when Fault happened, the device will shutdown at once. Short circuit faults are set to auto-recovery by connecting FAULT pin to SD pin.

You need to disconnect the SD and Fault pin if you need the Fault asserts.
