TPA6166A2: Question of TPA6166 Schematic Designs on Jack_Sense and Mic Output

Hi Sirs,

As title, we have two questions of schematic design of the TPA6166 which need product line's suggestion:

1. Can we leave MOUNT open and connect C3 to GND for Single-Ended mic design?

2. Do we need an inverter on JP1 when using a phone jack with normal open detection design (similar to Q1 on the TS3A227E EVM)?
3. Is there internal pull up or pull down with the JACK_SENSE pin? Can we connect the JACK_SENSE to SOC's GPIO?

Hello Luis,

Thanks a lot. We are planning to utilize the mic bias for internal mic hence we would connect the mic output to MOUTN as the below proposal. Would you please review it and provide suggestions?

Regarding the mic connection, could you tell me what is the purpose of connecting a microphone to the pre-amplifier output instead of the input?

Hello Luis,

There is a built-in mic in the system. Here we need your suggestions:

1. Can we connect a built-in ECM mic at the output of the pre-amp? We can discuss it with customer if your answer is no?
2. Can we connect single-end output on MOUTN and leave MOUTP open as it shown on my schematic?

Hi, Wayne,

Sorry for my late response.

I have searched for more information and both options you mentioned are correct. The ECM can be used at the output of the pre-amp. The single-ended output can be connected to MOUTN and MOUTP can be left floated since you are not using a differential connection.
