Hello,

My application of Piezo speaker require a 15Vp+15Vdc in order to work poperly. I'm planing to use thise device for the operation,but i saw in the datasheet :

8.5.3.3.3

DC DetectIf the DRV5825P device measures a DC offset in the output voltage, the FAULTZ line is pulled low and theOUTxx outputs transition to high impedance, signifying a fault.

Can this fault can be cleared or desactivated? Or, will DC offset will damage the IC?

Hello,

The DC detection is similar to what is done on the TAS5825M/TAS5825P device which are primarily speaker drivers and DC voltages across speaker loads can damage it, so the feature is the protect the load. So the device would be in shutdown due to the fault condition until the DC offset condition is removed.

but if my load require a dc offset. So if i get this correctly the amp wont be damaged because this feature is to portect the load?

Hello,

There is a possibility it can be damaged but the main issue is that the device will remain in shutdown until the DC offset is removed so I would need to check with the designers if there is a configuration that disables DC detection and what the effects would be on the output stage on the device for your condition.

Will clearing the FAULT_CLEAR Register will allow it to work again even with the dc offset

Hello

Clearing the FAULT_CLEAR Register will cause the DRV5825P to try to recover. However, if the fault condition continues, the same fault will be reported and DRV5825P will shut down itself again.
