TPA2018D1: USB Driver is missing

We found the driver as listed TIAudioI2C_1F20_8p5.inf

but it does not install. The computer complains about the lack of a digital signature.

We disabled the test for signed drivers and then the driver appeared to install but in device manager reported the following errors

Unknown USB Device (Device descriptor Request Failed)

Unknow USB Device (Set Address Failed)

Could you also install the latest NI-VISA drivers? 

Also, did you already installed the TPA2018D1 EVM GUI?

I just pointed the Driver installer to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments Inc\TPA2018D1 Interface

and it did it's thing. Both the XP and VISA drivers are in that folder

TIAudioI2C_1F20_8p5_vista.inf

TIAudioI2C_1F20_8p5.inf

The EVM GUI?? is that the software that I use to setup the compressor features of the TPA2018 IC?

Yes that is installed and I keep getting I2C failure because I do not have a driver. At least that is how I understand it.

Please advise??

Hi, Don,

Could you try downloading the most recent VISA drivers? I think the file you mentioned will have some conflicts with the Windows version you are using.

I went to ni.com and downloaded and installed ni-visa.

There must be more I need to do because Device Manager under Other Devices TIAudio I2C

is telling me the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Update Driver fails. I believe that is happening because I am not pointing it to the right location.

Please advise.

It seems I have to run the ni-visa software.

I started that but now it is asking my what device I have and I am given 3 choices:

USB\VID_13d3&PID_56e4

USB\VID_451&PID_1f20

USB\VID_8087&PID_29

I do not know what to choose?

I figured out how to install the driver and my tpa2018 interface is working.

I have another question.

When I scope the output and the input of the audio waveform I get a lot of digital hash on my scope but the audio sounds great.

Is there a way that I can see on the scope what I am hearing from the speaker?
