TPA6166A2: Is the TPA6166's IRQ# An Open Drain or Push-Pull Signal?

Hi Sirs,

As title, is the TPA6166's IRQ# an open drain or push-pull signal? We assume that it is an open drain signal because the datasheet does not specify VOH(min) and there is a 100kR pull up to 1.8V on its EVM. However, there is no pull up resistor on the reference design on the datasheet. Would you pls confirm if that if the pull up resistor on IRQ# mandatory? Is there internal pull up with the IRQ#

Hi, Wayne,

It's curious that the datasheet doesn't show a pull-up resistor in the typical application circuit since it is actually mentioned as a test condition in the electrical characteristics (it mentions 3mA pull-up current).

I would recommend to use the design of the EVM. The IRQ pin doesn't have an internal pull-up resistor.

Thank you for your confirmation, Luis. Would BU to add a pull up resistor at IRQ# to the reference circuit of the TPA6166 datasheet?

Yes, let me work on the drawing and start the datasheet modification request. I could take a while due to the multiple approvals we require.

In the meantime, please recommend the circuit on the EVM. This circuit is guaranteed to work properly.
