PCM2906C: No USB Enumeration

Part Number: PCM2906C

Hello,

I have a board I've recently designed with the PCM2906 onboard. I have conencted it to my computer and verified I have proper voltage, but I'm not seeing any enumeration or recognition by the computer that there is a device plugged in.  I've attached my schematic below.  What should I be looking for when I plug in, and how can I verify if the IC is funcitoning properly? My power LED3 light up and I have 4.02V and ~3.67V for the VCCI line.

  • Hello Adam,

Have you tried testing the PCM2906EVM (or any of the other PCM29xxEVMs) on the computer you're having enumeration issues with?

The internal supplies vary some and I don't have a board at my home office to compare with these numbers.  Does the device transmit anything out of the USB port when connected and is the XTAL oscillating?

The XTAL can admittedly be hard to probe w/o disturbing the circuit but it should be oscillating with a sinewave on the XTO pins.

  • Thank you for your response. The crystal is working as expected, this was a case of user error, apparently all 3 of the USB cables I used for initial testing were not data cables and gave no connection to the host PC.  Once I realized the problem was the cable, the system functioned just as expected.
