TPA3255EVM: mono PBTL mode

Part Number: TPA3255EVM

Hey,

I have some questions regarding the TPA3255EVM:

  • to run the amp in mono PBTL mode and send it a single ended signal to input A, do I ground the B channel? or does the input need to be differential?
  • also are the power specification in the data sheet peak power or rms
  • and on the data sheet it calls for 470uF capacitors on PVDD, but the EVM uses 4700uF, what is recommended?

Thanks!

  • Hi Daviel,

    To answer your questions:

    1. The signal needs to be differential.
    2. Power Specifications in the datasheet are RMS.
    3. We actually recommend using at minimum a 1000uF per full bridge. While the images on the datasheet show 470uF, in section 10.2.1.2.2 PVDD Capacitor Recommendation we specify 1000uF. That said we put additional bulk capacitance for the PVDD supplies as 1000uF is for a well designed system power supply and sometimes customers aren't using as steady of a power supply, thus requiring additional capacitance.

    Best Regards,
