I am converting a design from thru hole to SMT. The thru hole design used a DRV134 in the Dip 8 package. The DRV134 in SMT is only available in SOIC-16W. I'd like to use the DRV135 SOIC-8. I have scanned the datasheet and unless I have missed it there seems to be no specification difference between the 134 and 135. Can you confirm my understanding? Are they identical in performance?

Yeah the main specifications are the same for both. Besides the pin out difference there is some thermal performance improvement in the SOL-16 and DIP packages over the SO-8. Specifically the theta JA or thermal resistance seen on page 6 of the product datasheet (snip of it below). The thermal performance snippet below is from page 19.
