PCM1802: PCM1802 VREF1 capacitance

Part Number: PCM1802

Hi Team,

my customer uses PCM1802 in his design and he sees increase of the THD below a frequency of 100Hz.
He increased the capacitor on VREF1 to 100uF and that seems to solve the THD issue.
The datasheet recommends a 10uF electrolytic capacitor for VREF1, but does not specify any range for capacitance.
If the customer uses a 47uF or 100uF ceramic cap, will there any negative performance impact?

Thanks!

  • Hi, Josef,

The use of a different capacitor with a higher capacitance on the Vref pin should not represent any issue with the device. It would be up to customer to test if the performance with the different capacitor meets the requirements of the system and application.
