PCM2706C: can't volume up or volume down.

Hi,

my customer is using PCM2706C, I2S as communication.

They can't volume up or down by pressing the key. But the mute key can work well.

I can send you the schematic if needed.

    PCM2706C is connected to a windows platform computer through USB. And connected to an audio amplifier through I2S.
    The computer knows that the volume up or down key is pressed, since it's volume icon changed accordingly.
    I'm not sure if my understanding is correct, it's not the device itself who will change the volume accordingly, it's the computer that output an USB signal that contains the volume signal that controls the volume, and PCM2706C only converts the signal to I2S, so maybe it's the computer itself doesn't output a correct signal, right?

    Hi Howard,

    The volume key of the PCM2706C controls the volume level in the host system, not the actual volume of the I²S output, which data is actually sent by the computed through USB bus.

    I'm not sure about volume level in the host system, isn't it the same with the data sent to PCM2706C through USB bus?
    Can I say that the problem is caused by the computer's software?

    Howard,

    The volume control of the PCM2706C changes the main volume mixer of the USB audio device, so it is possible that the software used to playback audio is not being affected by this change. Is it possible to use a different software to see if the volume key changes the output amplitude?.

    Hi,
    Have you seen our schematic ? PCM2706C press volume up key or volume down key and computer sound progress bar display are not synchronized. How to solve this problem ?
