TPA2054D4: Abnormal sound output

Part Number: TPA2054D4

Hi Team,

My customer found IC that produce abnormal noise when changing the Volume setting.

In fact, when changing the setting values of registers 3, 4, and 5, the sound "Putu" is output.

OUTL ± and Headphone outputs are used for output.

Sound is output from both ± on the OUTL side, and sound is output only from the RIGHT from the Headphone side.

Do you know any factors?

Best Regards,

Kenji

  • Hi Kenji,

You could provide me more details about your application. If you could provide me a schematic and registers setting that you are using to configure the TPA2054D4.

  • Hi Jose,

Sorry for late reply. Schematic diagrams can not be placed on this thread.
Specifically, Pop Noise will be generated when Volume Control Register 0x05 is changed.
Do you inspect this item in shipment inspection?
Also, have there been similar cases in the past?

    Best Regards,
    Kenji
  • Kenji,

I sent you a message on E2E so that you can provide me your schematic and the script used to configure the device, so Could you send them to me?

  • Hi Kenji,

I have reviewed your schematic and I noticed that you are using an output LC filter in the headphone driver, but it is not necessary to use this kind of filter. In fact, it is always recommended to use an RC snubber or Zobel network to avoid this kind of overshooting on the headphone outputs. You can refer TPA2054D4 oscillation on HP outputs where you can find a deeper explanation about this issue and recommendations of filters.
