Part Number: TLV320ADC5140

Hello sir,

May I ask what's the maximum number of TLV320ADC5140 can be used together? Is it 4? if so, does it mean the maximum analog input can be 16 and the maximum digital input can be 32? May I also ask the reason to limit the maximum number of TLV320ADC5140 used?

If 4 TLV320ADC5140 used with digital MIC and TDM mode used, how will the output of DOUT show?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Best regards,

  • Hi Wenting,

I think you may want to take a look at our app note on sharing the audio and control buses for TLV320ADC5140 found here: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sbaa383b/sbaa383b.pdf?ts=1594828408839&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FTLV320ADC5140

To summarize, the control bus is limited to 4 devices if you are using I2C to configure the devices because there are 2 address pins allowing for 4 unique I2C addresses. If you were to use SPI though, then you could have more devices on the same bus as long as you have sufficient GPIO on you host to control the select pins.

On the audio bus, the device technically supports up to 64 channels of data on a single bus, with some limitations on the sample rate and word length depending on how many channels you actually need.

    Best,

    Zak
