CDCI6214: Expected output clock doesn't work

Part Number: CDCI6214

Dear Technical Support Team,

My custom board has CDCI6214 and it doesn't work correctly. I can't get expected output frequency. Clocks aren't output on Yx .

So I tried to bypass of REFP through Y0, however it doesn't output 10Mhz(REFP).

1. Could you check my schematic ?

2. Could you check my TICS Pro file and register settings exported from TICS Pro?

   CDCI6214.tcs

3. Can REFP and XOUT use single end clock(LVCMOS) with DC coupling?

According to the datasheet, it looks AC coupling. However Attached E2E said DC coupling is OK.

  • Hello ttd,

    1. What is REFP (QX533A10.00000B 15R) connecting to?

    2. The TICSPRO setting utilizing the .tcs file does not have Y0 enabled. Are these outputs the desired outputs?

    3. As mentioned previously - DC coupling can work although appropriate VIH/VIL parameters must be met (see section 6.6 if this is unclear). Please note that CDCI6214 does not have SECREF pertaining to related E2E.

  • Hi Aaron Black,

    Thank you for your reply.

Set recal = 1 after writing all register settings through i2c, outputs are ok.

Datsheet doesn't have the detail of fallback mode procedure.

It is helpful to describe it like EEPROM access chapter.

    Best Regards,

    ttd

  • Hello ttd,

Yes, this is mentioned in the EEPROM Access section of the datasheet but there is not an explicit mention that this is needed when reprogramming device. I'll request this to be added.

    Best,

    Aaron B.
