LMK5C33216: Delay tuning

Part Number: LMK5C33216

Hi E2E,

Good day.

Our customer would like to use the LMK5C33216 for a MIMO application. What degree is this part capable of aligning all the outputs to one another? Specifically, what is the range of delay capable, and what is the step size for that delay tuning? The REF frequencies are selected from either 50MHz or 10MHz and the XO input is 125MHz.

Regards,
Carlo

  • Hello Carlo,

What are your output frequencies you are wanting to phase adjust?

  • Hello Timothy.

Thank you for looking into this. You may close the thread.

  • Ok, very good.

Well for the record of anyone looking in the future... the device output clocks can adjust in half period as well as the SYSREF clocks.  The SYSREF clocks also can use analog delay adjustment which will increase the resolution of the steps.  Everything is frequency dependent.  But in general the digital delay half could be around 200 to 1000 ps depending on the VCO, VCO frequency, and output post divider.  SYSREF steps could be around 32 ps or less down to around 10 ps.  Again, frequency dependent.

You may be able to use the SYSREF output for a device clock, but there may be some frequency limitations.
