RAM failure statistics

Hi,

This is a general question on how to estimate RAM (DDR3) hard and soft field failures.  Based on the article below we know Failures In Time (FIT) aren't necessarily constant over the life of the part. Generally, after a few failures are encountered, the FIT increases with time. Please see the article referenced below. We are looking for advice on how we could estimate failure probabilities quantitatively and gain some insight on the failure modes of DDR3.

  • Hello Gary,

it sounds to me like you are asking about DRAM soft and hard failures. Actually we do not make DDR3 DRAMs, but a DDR3 Register which is basically a signal buffer and jitter cleaner und just provides the signals to the DRAMs.

So I recommend you to contact DRAM vendors instead, they should be able to answer your question.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Christian
