Hi Ti vendor,

I have design about the 25G reimer (DS250DF230ZLSR)，

Due to the product spec change, original I/O have two type for 10G & 25G SFP ans can use SW to switch SFP type.

But remove 25G SFP, so only have 10G XFI interface.

I wonder ask for retimer SW is need to change for remove retimer .

And can direct connection to SFP+ conn , don't use retimer. ?

Hi,

The DS250DF230 may be used for 25G and 10G SFP interfaces as well as XFI interface. The host simply needs to perform a handful of I2C register write operations to the retimer to set its CDR for locking to specific rate (e.g. 25GbE vs 10GbE) and also adjust its Tx EQ pre-cursor and post-cursor EQ settings if desired.

I know this function, I just understand if the DS250DF230 is reserved , the SW need to modify it? block diagram as below:

I don't think I understand the question. What software are you asking about? SFP+ module configuration?

Because there is currently planning of different specifications share the same PCB Design & SW CODE, one of the products is only 10G SFP +, so I want to reserved Retimer IC for antoher sku product.
So i ask that SW code needs to be changed?

The TI retimer needs some register writes to set it do different functional modes including 10G and 25G CDR rates. You would need to make allowance in your software for retimer configuration.

I don't understand, for another SKU, I have to delete Ti retimer & don't mount, and I still have to control retimer Register?

If you want to leverage the same exact system software for both retimer vs no retimer SKUs then you would want to add the software functions for configuring the retimer to your code. Obviously you would not exceute these functions for the no-retimer SKU.
