LMC555: what is difference between LMC555IMX and LM555CMX

Part Number: LMC555
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM555

Hi team,

May I understand what is the difference between LMC555IMX and LM555CMX?

From datasheet, I found some difference in below:

LMC555IMX operating temperature: -40~125C, supply voltage minimum 1.5V, lower Iq than LM555CMX.

LM555CMX operating temperature: 0~70C, supply voltage minimum 4.5V.

Please kindly help to comment.

Thank you.

Regards,

Allen

  • Allen,

In addition to the differences you have mentioned, the LM555 can supply up to 200mA output current both sourcing and sinking where the LMC555 is tested up to -10mA sink and 50mA source.

The LM555 has much higher quiescent current at a max of 6mA on a supply of 5V and 15mA at a supply of 15V. The LMC is a lower power device that draws up to 400uA at 12V.

Essentially one is higher power with high output drive capabilities and one is low power with lower output capabilities in addition to the differences with temperature, and supply range.
