LMK1C1106: Can I use oscillator with sinewave input for this clock buffer?

Hi,

Currently I have a requirement really low phase noise that need to be distributed and convert to LVCMOS.

Does this IC support a sinewave input clock? or it is only specific to LVCMOS input.

If I were to use this IC buffer in conjunction to my sinewave OCXO, could you suggest me on how to make it work?

Hi Andri,

It depends on your sinewave input. It must meet the input requirements (more importantly, VIH/VIL and slew rate) provided in the datasheet. You may confirm the results using the IBIS model provided here (note: LMK1C1104 model can be used to test LMK1C1106).

Hi,

I am using a 100MHz sinewave OCXO which has an output power range of +7dBm (1.41Vpp) to +11dBm (2.24Vpp).

If I calculate the minimum slew rate by 2*pi*f*V I will get 2*pi*1e8*1.41 = 0.89V/ns.

If I were to choose 1.8V LVCMOS output, this will be sufficient, right?

What is your intended VDD with the 1.8V LVCMOS?

I guess it is 1.8V or maximum 2.5V.

Hi Andri,

That should be okay. 2.5V might be better since you want a 1.8V LVCMOS output.
