CDCE6214-Q1: Register reset value, MAX start-up time on CDCE6214-Q1

Part Number: CDCE6214-Q1

Hi,

My customer has the following questions.  Could you please answer them?

On the CDCE6214-Q1 Register Map User's Guide (SNAU247B), Reserved bit is Zero on reset value. On the other hands, on the datasheet Table-22 "Register Defaults", Reserved bit also writes actual value.  Which is default value?    My understanding is "Register MAP User's guide is correct on reset value, but after de-asserted RESET, CDCE6214-Q1 update the value on the Table-22 of datasheet".   Is it correct?   Please advise us.

On "1.6.1 R60 Register" of CDCE6214-Q1 Register Map User's Guide (SNAU247B), CH1_CMOS_SLEW_RAT E_CTRL bit is 0x8 on RESET value, but "Do not use except 00h or 10h" on Description column.   I think anything seems typo.  I guess 0x8 is Normal mode.  Could you please let us know what is correct?

On "7.21 Power-On Reset Characteristics" of datasheet, Start-up time is described on only Typical (9ms).   Could you please let us know the MAX start-up time?   Although this is not critical timing, he requires MAX value of start-up time for internal specification.   Please advise us.

Thanks and best regards,
 M.HATTORI.

  • Hi Hattori-san,

You can find the default register values for fallback (silicon default) as well as EEPROM page 0 and 1 (factory default) in datasheet table 22. I'm attaching the copies here:

Good catch on R60. It is indeed a mistake. It doesn't make sense to have 0x10 for a 4-bit register. The normal mode should be 0x8 instead.

We don't have the validation data for the startup time at this point. We only collected the typical. Considering PVT variation (Process, Voltage, Temperature) I would say 20ms is a safe number (this is when starting from EEPROM. I2C communication time is not included). If that's too large then we will have to test it.

    Regards,

    Hao
