TICSPRO-SW: new version not working for LMK05028

Genius 12865 points
Part Number: TICSPRO-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05028, USB2ANY

Hello Team,

after installing the latest version my customer reports that he cannot configure the LMK05028 which was possible in the previous version.

Can you verify, please?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hi Hans,

Does the device not show up or what does he mean by "cannot configure"?

    Regards,

    Jennifer

  • Hi Jennifer,

the device shows up, but according to the customer it is not possible to configure / program the part which is possible with the older version which was luckily still installed on a different PC.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Hans

  • Hi Hans,

Do you mean an option is missing or nothing happens when the customer programs with the GUI?

    Hi Derek,

Can you please provide insight on this?

    Regards,

    Jennifer

  • Hans,

This is still too vague for me to understand the specific complaint. The update from 1.7.0 to 1.7.2 should not have prevented device programming, and the LMK05028 should have no underlying code that would be affected by the update.

We need to get more specific:

    • Does the USB2ANY not program the device? Does communication fail? Is there a status bar message?
    • Are there python errors in the status bar?
    • You mentioned this is a different PC... did the customer remember to install MATLAB Runtime 9.0 R2015b to run the DPLL calculations?
    • Something else? Please be specific.

    Regards,

  • Hi Derek, programming did not work; customer did not further evaluate as he found a quick solution by using the older version but here are some observations:

    TICSPRO-SW Application software & framework | TI.com shows release date July 6th 2021

while the TICS Pro tells under Help -> About: October 20th 2020

This looks like something went wrong, do you agree?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Hans

  • Hans,

    TICSPRO-SW Application software & framework | TI.com shows release date July 6th 2021

while the TICS Pro tells under Help -> About: October 20th 2020

TICS Pro executable version/build date and TICS Pro device profile version are different. For unimportant reasons, we are currently forced to release a new installer version with the same TICS Pro executable version and binary (1.7.2, built October 20, 2020) every time we make a minor tweak or bug fix to a device profile or release a new device on the software. The discrepancy you highlight is (frustratingly) things working as intended.

It sounds like the customer solved their issue. Unless they have an interest in exploring the problem further, I'll mark the thread as resolved.

    Regards,
