LMX2820: VCO core ranges

Genius 12865 points
Part Number: LMX2820
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2595,

Hello Team,

For the LMX2595, there is table 6 in the datasheet on page 25, which lists the ranges of values for DACISET and CAPCTRL for Assisted VCO Calibration.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find such a Table for the LMX2820. Is it available upon request or does it not exist at all?

Can we simply use VCO_CAPCTRL in R22 with values from 191 to 0 for VCO1 to VCO7? But how about DACISET?

How to calculate the highlighted values on AppNote SNAA342 for LMX2820?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hi Hans,

As you know, in LMX2820, we have instant calibration, which is used to replace manual full-assist and partial-assist. Therefore, it is not justify to put a lot of words in the datasheet to describe these "legacy" approach.

We don't need to calculate the partial assist start value, we know the actual value from calibration and readback (186 and 336 in Table 4), we can put a close value (180 and 330) as the starting point for calibration.
