LMK03328: PLL lock restoration

Part Number: LMK03328
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05318B, LMK5B12204

In our system LMK chip is locked to external clock reference which is prone to weather (thunderstorms) short ( <1 msec) disturbances. LMK chip is loosing lock and requires re-programming.  Is it possible to setup PLL operation to make PLL lock restoration automatically once clock reference is stable ?

Thank you,

Tomasz

  • Hi Tomasz,

In that case you need LMK05318B or LMK5B12204 which requires a local reference and can do hitless switching. Hitless switching means, when the external reference is gone and back, DPLL does not lose lock and there's no phase disturbance on the output during the switchover event.
