LMK03806: OSC input check and MICROWIRE interface

Part Number: LMK03806

Hi team,

Customer is planning to use LMK03806 in their project, and they plan to use 20Mhz OSC input, and the OSC in their AVL is DSX321G, it's series resistance is 80Ohm max. Could this OSC be supported by LMK03806?

Another question is the MICROWIRE interface, does it support for the image load or communication interface between host? How should they connect those interface?

Hope you could share you comments on those two question.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,

If ESR is higher than datasheet requirement, we may experience startup problem or it does not oscillate at all, especially at higher temperature as ESR usually increase with temperature. If the customer cannot find a low ESR crystal, use crystal oscillator (XO). XO does not have any startup issue.

I don't quite understand your questions on the microwire interface. LMX03806 is a microwire (or SPI) slave. A good practice is use a small resistor (e.g 33Ω) to connect the host and the slave.
