LMK00304: Clock Multiplier recommendation

Part Number: LMK00304
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK5B12204, CDCL6010

Hi Team,

May I ask whether we have the suitable Clock Multiplier to meet customer's following request? Customer used LMK00304 before and would like to change to other solution.

  • Multiplier from 100M to 500M with low delay time
  • Single or dual LVDS output
  • Multiplier can be adjusted, could change from 2-5
  • Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have many multipliers. Therefore, I would recommend using a clock generator that can take in your 100 MHz clock and the use its internal VCO to create a 500 MHz clock or any other clock frequency required that is a factor of a frequency in the VCO range.

A low output count clock generator that can be used is the LMK5B12204. You can feed the 100 MHz clock into the XO input for the APLL to lock to and then generate your 500 MHz output clock.

  • Hi Kia,

CDCL6010 seems could meet customer's request.

But CDCL6010's output type is not LVDS, is LVPECL.

Any difference between LVPECL and LVDS clock ouput?

  • Hello Amelie,

Yes, an LVPECL output has a much larger voltage swing than an LVDS output. LVPECL swing is about 1600 mVpp and LVDS swing is about 700 mVpp.

With that being said, you can translate an LVPECL signal to a LVDS one using the below termination.
