LMK04828: LMK04828B - Alternate part Recommendation

Part Number: LMK04828
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04610, LMX2594,

Hi,

Currently I'm using LMK04828B part  in my design. Since the number of clock outputs  are more in this, I'm planning to switch to "LMK04610" part.

Is there any disadvantage(specifically in performance) of using LMK04610 over LMK04828B.Is there any other better part in replacement of LMK04828B.

The no.of output required is 9/10.

This LMK is mainly used in my board for to provide clock input RF PLL(LMX2594).

Nireeksha

  • Hi Nireeksha,

As you may be knowing, LMK04828 has total 7 pairs of DCLKs and SYSREFs outputs and these can be used 14nos. of DCLKs, where each SYSREF output can be set to DCLK out. In this case, 2 clocks out use the same clock divider path. Clock diagram shown below. With this configuration, you can have 7 different output frequencies (7 channel dividers) at 14 outputs.

With LMK04610 also, you can have 10 channel outputs but with 8 channel dividers.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Ajeet,

    Thanks for the information.

Apart from, Is there any major performance changes when compared to LMK04828B.Since I'm planning for replacement of LMK04828B with LMK04610.

  • Hi Nireeksha,

Both LMK04828 and LMK04610 are dual PLL jitter cleaner but with different VCO range (LMK04828 - 2370 to 2630 MHz & 2920 to 3080 MHz, LMK04610 - 5870 MHz to 6175 MHz), where LMK04610 can have maximum output frequency of 2GHz (min div 3 at VCO output). LMK04610 has better noise floor. LMK04828 has different output format signals (LVDS/HSDS/LVPECL/LVCMOS), whereas LMK04610 has only HSDS and HCSL output format and may need additional circuit to convert the output if needed, mentioned in section 9.3.2 in datasheet.

    Thanks!
