LMK5B12204: Configuration file using TICS Pro

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05318BEVM, , LMK05318B

Hi Experts,

Good day. We have this query from Cx:

I'm in process of getting a evaluation board LMK05318BEVM, but this board does not have the part that I'm looking to use, however, TI websites lists this board as evaluation board for LMK5B12204 (the part I want to use).

I downloaded TICS Pro, but am having a bit of hard time navigating through. Could someone help me out coming up with configuration file using TICS Pro?

Also, would it be possible to use frequency other than 25 MHz for the PRIREF on the evaluation board?

Any guide on this? Thank you for your support.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hello Archie,

The LMK5B12204 is the 4-channel version of the LMK05318B, so performance for both devices will be the same.

Please provide the following information and I can create a configuration for you:

    1. XO frequency and XO format type?

    2. Output frequencies and output format type?

    3. PRIREF and SECREF frequencies and format type?

Yes, PRIREF/SECREF can be any frequency between 1 Hz to 800 MHz

  • Hi Kia,

Below is the response from Cx:

    1. XO frequency and XO format type?
For now I'm going to use the one that is on the Eval Board, which is 48.0048 MHz and single endedly connected .

    2. Output frequencies and output format type?
500 MHz (Out0) and 250 MHz (Out1), both output will be LVDS. Jitter to be 50fs or better.

    3. PRIREF and SECREF frequencies and format type?
PRIREF will have 25 MHz TCXO LVCMOS single endedly connected.
    SECREF will have nothing connected.

    Thanks,
    Archie A.

  • Hello Archie,

Attached is a configuration for your requirements.

    LMK5B12204_config.tcs

Please provide the appropriate XO and reference inputs to the device, then load this configuration, and then perform a Soft-Reset Chip.

After the soft-reset chip your device will be up and running as required.
